JIM MITCHELL

 

Jim Mitchell, a 1942 graduate of Lake Stevens High School, was an active and enthusiastic participant in football, basketball, baseball, letter club and band programs. He served his country during World War II from 1942-1946 in the U S Navy. Following military service, in 1948, Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Washington.

Jim is a highly distinguished community member who has earned the respect of everyone who knows of him. Among his many outstanding accomplishments, Jim served as a Washington State Representative for District 39 from 1979-1984. In 1983, the town of Lake Stevens declared Jim as “Citizen of the Year.” He received the Lions International Award in 1994. He has been recognized as “Washington State Pharmacist of the Year,” and the Boy Scouts of America have honored him with an “Eagle of Distinction” award. Mr. Mitchell was a volunteer fireman for 13 years and has served on numerous community boards. He has also been president of the Lion’s service organization as well as holding office in many other community groups.

A model citizen who always demonstrates a “can do” attitude, Jim Mitchell is a legend in Lake Stevens. In 1964, he was selected the Lake Stevens Sport Fan of the Year. He currently serves in leadership roles for the Lake Stevens Clubs Inc., Lake Stevens Boys and Girls Club, and the Lake Stevens High School Purple and Gold Booster Club. Over the years, Mr. Mitchell has made exemplary efforts in support of Lake Stevens High School and the community. These contributions set the highest standards, so the debt of gratitude Lake Stevens owes Jim Mitchell is enormous.
