BRENDA MUELLER
Brenda Mueller, a 1984 graduate of Lake Stevens High School does not like to dwell on the missed opportunities that she experienced because of the lack of a soccer program for girls in the 1980”s. While at Lake Stevens High School in the early days of women’s sports programs, Brenda participated in basketball, and softball, however her true love was soccer. Following high school, Brenda went on to play softball at Edmonds Community College because they did not offer soccer then either. Her soccer was limited to the community programs, where she played on the Shooting Stars Select Team.
However, Brenda continued her passion for the game she loved and played on several teams in the State Women’s Soccer Association. In 1998 and 1999, Brenda was part of the USASA National Championship Team, the Bohemians from Washington State. Brenda led the Pacific Coast Soccer League in scoring that year and was selected to try out for the Seattle Sounders Women’s Team. The Sounders released her at the start of the season and not to be deterred, Brenda was once again part of the over 30 National Women’s Championship Team.
The Sounders realized their mistake and brought Brenda Mueller back to the professional level in 2002 where she was assist leader of the team and leading goal scorer. In 2003 Brenda was honored as the Washington State Women’s Soccer Association Player of the Year for her accomplishments. We at Lake Stevens High School are honored to have Brenda as a member of our “Hall of Fame”.
