MIKELL MCLAURY

Mikell was an outstanding football player on offense and defense for the Lake Stevens Vikings.  He was selected Co-Captain, was the leading tackler, and received the Coaches Award all during his senior season.   Yet it was after high school that Mike really blossomed.

His first two years were at Pacific University where he started at outside linebacker both seasons.  He then transferred to Western Washington University where he moved to the defensive end position.   During his junior season Mikell helped lead Western into the playoffs and along the way was rewarded by being named All-Conference, All-Northwest, and recipient of the Coaches Award.  He followed that up by being selected All-Conference his senior season along with again earning the Coaches Award.

After spending a year as an assistant coach for Western Mikell was offered a contract with the Graz Giants, a professional football team in Austria.  From 1998 until 2003 Mikell played defensive end and led the team in sacks four times.  He, also, played fullback the last two years and led the Giants in touchdowns.  This all culminated in the Graz Giants winning the Europa Cup in 2002.  During the off season Mikell also served as the team’s strength and conditioning coach.

Mikell is presently the co-owner of Everett Physical Therapy and Sports Performance Center allowing him to work as head athletic trainer and strength coach for many local college and professional teams.

Mikell is an outstanding role model for all present and future Lake Stevens Vikings.
