When Coach Steve Berg arrived at Lake from Omak, Washington in 1977 he may not have predicted the contributions he was to make to Lake Stevens High School.

There have been many.  During a teaching career of 36 years, he taught Keyboarding, Algebra and AP Psychology.

Mr. Berg was an assistant football coach for 20 years, his teams competing as state semi-finalists three times and as finalists twice.  As Head Girls Basketball coach, Mr. Berg guided his teams to 342 wins, two 20-0 seasons, 19 playoff appearances, 5 league/division titles, 4 district titles, and 6 final sixteen state playoff appearances. At State he coached 3 quarterfinal teams; his 1986 team won fourth place at State.

To those who studied under him, coached and taught with him, Coach Steve Berg’s legacy is unique life changing, enormous.  Coach Berg commented: “Coaching allowed me to form lifetime bonds with many.  Without them this award could never have happened; therefore this award is shared by all who were involved.
